Part 3 - The Business
Final part of the series focusing on the business side of music photography.
Guide is in PDF format.
There's been some trouble downloading the file in Firefox. Not sure why so you may have to use IE
My eternal apologies.
Just to let you know, I'm using Firefox and the .PDF worked absolutely fine. I was nearly sick looking your at your AMAZING Velvet Revolver photo though...holy shit! I'm so glad you got part three of this guide up. It's really useful with very realistic advice, and I'll definitely be referring back to it in the future as part of my exploring-potential-career-routes thing!
about a year ago, i always dreamt about getting free ticket for concert and press passes, now i don't want them, i only what to take some good pictures the people, the bands enjoy. it feels so damn good when someone comes up after a show and says "hey man, i was able to look at the pictures you made the last time from 'xyz', those are amazing man!"
or once, i made pictures at the show and went to the merch afterwards were i asked for an email to send them, then gave my a fucking CD and they havn't seen the pictures, i mean how cool is that?
Glad it worked as well. Think it maybe something to do with the skin I use for dA.
Pleased it helps. It's all stuff from things I've read. To be honest a lot of books repeat themselves so it's easier to pick out the more useful parts.
I love shooting bands i love. The shots mean so much more.
And not only that the bands appreciate it more when it's a true fan.
I know what you mean about when people love the shots. Gives you a buzz. Makes it seem worthwhile.
Makes it feel like you're giving back to the band what they give to you.
how do you always keep your camera from getting fucked up at all those concerts with all the people moshing and kicking and what? youre almost always right up under the singers
Quite a few of the venues have a pit at the front that you can stand in for the first three songs.
The only thing you have to look out for are crowd surfers coming over the top!
At smaller venues i just rely on the fact that i'm stronger than everyone else!
